Human Sustainability

Developing human potential is a key goal of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ – from the construction workers building the stadiums, to local entrepreneurs and the next generation of football fans around the world.

We regularly gather our sustainability and environmental managers and engineers from each stadium to share solutions and other best practices that improve sustainability planning, design and implementation.

Knowledge sharing is a unique learning opportunity and we have conducted more than 20,000 hours of training. These knowledge sharing events have allowed us to amass a wealth of information and experience from across the world. The workshops give us the opportunity to regularly bring staff, consultants and contractors together as one team, to observe, learn and share knowledge in this crucial area.

We also hosted our first Knowledge Sharing Conference where attendees gained in-depth insights into preparations for the first FIFA World Cup™ in the Middle East and Arab world. Our speakers covered infrastructure projects, sustainability, workers’ welfare, event integration and planning, cybersecurity and that initiatives that support our legacy.

‘Our commitment is not only to 2022, but long beyond that – and maximising the learning opportunities the next few years will present forms a crucial and key part of that strategy.’
Bodour Al-Meer, Sustainability & Environmental Manager

Our Workers’ Welfare programme promotes lasting human development. Ensuring safe working and living conditions for Qatar 2022 workers lays the foundations for their prosperity. While the training and social opportunities offered allow workers to prosper in both their professional and personal lives.

We will leave a sustainable legacy of higher standards and best practices – giving workers a voice and a better future in Qatar and across the world.

Generation Amazing is ushering in a better tomorrow for communities around the globe. Through the construction of football pitches, the delivery of football for development training and the involvement of young people, the programme enacts lasting social change.
