Mjalis PlayStation Tournament

Tournaments
In Arab culture, the majlis (plural mjalis) is the gathering place where family and friends meet to relax, socialise and discuss the matters of the day.

Capitalising on the immense popularity of football-based video games, our annual mjalis tournament engages the Qatari community and builds excitement as we near the FIFA World Cup 2022™.

Like all of our community engagement efforts, it will be an opportunity to inform the public about our progress and seek their input on our preparations for the tournament. Doing so in the informal context of a video game tournament allows participants to be more open and forthcoming with their views.

Tournament format

We will select four mjalis from four cities in Qatar: Doha, Al Khor, Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah – 16 mjalis in total. Players at each majlis will compete for the right to represent it in the knockout stages.

Like the FIFA World Cup™ itself, there will be a round of 16, followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals and, eventually, the final.

The two individuals in the final will be supported by people from their majlis. They will compete for prizes and, of course, the honor of being crowned champion.
