Delegates praise smooth delivery of Josoor Institute’s professional diploma programmes
Josoor Institute delegates have praised the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ legacy programme after it moved quickly to deliver its most recent modules online.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic meant the second block of Josoor Institute’s professional diploma programmes in sports and major events management needed to be delivered remotely to more than 90 delegates.
Josoor Institute – which aims to ensure the knowledge gained from hosting Qatar 2022 is passed to the next generation of sports and events professional across the MENA region – moved quickly in collaboration with SDA Bocconi School of Management in order to cater for its delegates and guest speakers, who are spread across Qatar and Italy. And, following a survey, 90% of delegates said they were satisfied with the e-learning solution, while 80% said they were engaged or very engaged with the online sessions.
Afraa Al Noaimi, Executive Director of Josoor Institute, said: “This was our first major experience of delivering our programmes online, so we are delighted that delegates found the content engaging and were able to fully immerse themselves in the sessions. Ever since the pandemic began and social distancing measures were implemented, it has been our mission to ensure that learning never stops. We thank SDA Bocconi for their support in helping us to achieve this goal.”
Like the regular face-to-face classes, the online programmes included group work – which impressed delegate Luminita Madescu, from Aspire Academy.
“We all enjoyed the interactions in the virtual breakout rooms, where we debated the Olympic Games and its goal to make the world a better place through sport. The content was well thought-out and contextualised with local data on the MENA region so we can compare and contrast challenges in Qatar, the region and the globe.”
In addition to group work, delegates learned from detailed presentations from a host of guest speakers and also took part in both question and answer sessions and instant polls.
“The staff and professors clearly worked very hard behind the scenes to deliver a programme that was as good as face-to-face delivery,” said delegate Dr. Sajid Ahmed, who works for Aspetar. “One of the aspects I particularly liked was the interaction between the delegates and professors.”
Among the expert guest speakers during the latest programme were Niccolò Mornati, Head of Summer Sports & Business Development at Infront Sports & Media AG, and Claudia Katai, Head of Business Development at Balich Worldwide Shows, which produces large-scale events like the Olympics. In addition, professors from SDA Bocconi made themselves available to delegates throughout the programme.
The next block of sessions is scheduled to take place in June and the Josoor Institute is already preparing to host the programme online for a second time if necessary.
