Qatar exhibition kicks off in São Paulo
Hundreds of football fans have already visited the Qatar @roadto2022 Exhibition in Sao Paulo, which opened at the weekend.
Organised by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy and Qatar Football Association, the installation at JK Iguatemi mall celebrates Qatar's football culture and highlights preparations for the FIFA World Cup™.
Located on the third floor of the mall, the exhibition features FIFA World Cup™ memorabilia, crowdsourced photographs which highlight football culture in Qatar, models of the eight Qatar 2022 stadiums and details about Qatar's Asian Cup victory. Much of the memorabilia is the property of Qatari collector Mohammed Abdulatif and includes match-worn shirts, footballs, tickets and more.
The exhibition has been organised to coincide with Qatar's debut in the Copa America. The Maroons have been drawn in Group B with Argentina, Colombia and Paraguay. The reigning Asian Cup champions have been invited to take part in the tournament for the first time, along with Japan.
Nasser Al Khater, FIFA World Cup Qatar LLC Chief Executive Officer, said the exhibition was giving fans a taste of what they can expect when world football's premier international tournament heads to Qatar for the first time in 2022.
“It's been great to see so many people visiting the exhibition,” said Al Khater. “With Qatar playing in the Copa America for the first time, we recognised this was a golden opportunity to engage with some of the most passionate fans in the world and give them an idea of what to expect when they travel to Qatar in just over three years' time.”
Al Khater added: “The fans are obviously interested in the memorabilia, including match worn shirts that belonged to Pele and Diego Maradona, but they are also fascinated to learn more about our stadiums and view the crowdsourced photographs which show a side of Qatar many people may not be familiar with.
“We look forward to welcoming hundreds more fans to the exhibition over the next week – and hope many of them will travel to Qatar to support their teams and sample our famous hospitality in 2022.”
The exhibition is open every day from 10 AM to 10 PM. For the latest news visit www.sc.qa or follow @roadto2022 on social media.
