What is the cultural activation programme?

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ cultural activation programme is the first of its kind to be delivered during a FIFA World Cup™ tournament. Through the programme, we are inviting artists to join the entertainment offering during the tournament for an exceptional fan experience.

As the march of excited fans starts to rumble from the outskirts of stadium premises, you will be there to gift them unforgettable moments. This journey stretches to the stadium gates where fans are finally ready to cheer for their teams.

What are the potential locations for cultural activations?

With this programme, you will get the chance to explore all FIFA World Cup 2022™ locations across Qatar. Your adaptable performance could be the next pop-up at an unpredictable location that will make a difference in someone’s memorable experience.

The official and non-official sites include stadium precincts, the FIFA Fan Festival™, entertainment destinations, the Corniche Activation and other events, such as D'reesha Performing Arts Festival in Education City and entertainment offering in Msheireb, as well as metro and bus stations.

Who can participate?

This is an exclusive opportunity to be part of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ where we welcome everyone with a serious artistic flair! We are inviting all types of talented small to medium-scale acts to join the entertainment offering of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ as we aim to offer the most culturally diverse show of all times. Artists of all genders, nationalities, backgrounds, ages and skills are invited to share their art, creativity and culture with the world.

What arts categories can participate?

Are you up for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity? There is no limit to what you can offer. From inside or outside Doha, the cultural activation programme provides an opportunity for local, regional and international artists from a wide range of arts – such as dance, comedy, theatre, music, circus, fashion, visual arts installations, performances, film and much more – to share their talent with the world.

Do I need to commit to particular dates?

The activations will take place at times and locations along the fan journey throughout Qatar. Exact dates will be discussed with each applicant on a one-to-one basis. We’ll ask our artists to abide by the discussed and agreed-upon schedule to be part of this exceptional experience and would ask that you commit to performing for a minimum of eight days during the tournament.

Will I receive updates regarding the status of my application?

Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted after the end of the registration period.

What are the selection criteria?

We are looking for mobile, diverse, small to medium-scale activations that are flexible, adaptable and can be conducted in various locations, with a focus on acts that are fun, engaging and interactive. Production and practical viability are also taken into account, along with consideration to the programme as a whole.

Why should I participate?

We are opening the door to amazing experiences by enabling artists to be part of the most versatile World Cup™ entertainment offering ever!

Will my performance expenses be covered?

The space for the performance and technical production items, such as access to a sound system and lighting rig, will be provided. However, artists are expected to come equipped with any required costumes, tools and instruments needed to entertain and perform. You can specify any additional requirements for your performance in your application.

In addition, a single fixed fee will be paid as compensation for the artist’s participation.

Will my travel and accommodation expenses be covered?

The artists are to cover their own flight ticket, accommodation and other personal expenses. However, we are currently working with local partners to provide feasible and cost-efficient accommodation options to our artists.

Can I expect meals on performance days?

You are part of the team! Meals and beverages will be provided in allocated rest areas for your consumption during your operational hours. Artists are responsible for their own meals and beverages outside their operational hours.

Traveling to Qatar

Will I be guaranteed an entry permit to Qatar?

All artists should adhere to the rules and regulations of the State of Qatar. We are working with local partners to support facilitating entry for participating artists. We are also following the directions of local authorities regarding safety measures against COVID-19.

Should I be fully vaccinated to participate?

You are required to meet the Ministry of Public Health’s (MOPH) latest COVID-19 regulations to be able to visit Qatar.

What proof of vaccination should I provide?

Visitors who are vaccinated outside Qatar are required to provide their original vaccine certificate and any other supporting documents. For more detail read about MOPH-approved vaccines.

Do I need to undergo PCR tests?

Stay up to date with Qatar’s travel test regulations through the MOPH travel policy page.
