Generation Amazing has been changing lives since 2010, when it was established during Qatar's bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2022™. Following Qatar winning hosting rights, the programme was enthusiastically taken up by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy.
Generation Amazing uses football for development initiatives to address social issues in countries with an identified need, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through the construction of community football pitches, the delivery of comprehensive football for development training and the involvement of young people, the programme reaches some of the world's most excluded people, especially those experiencing high levels of deprivation. It also promotes sustainable behaviours among young people in Qatar and across the region.
Every training session we deliver is based around football – to instantly engage people and fix the principles being taught in their minds. Our ambassadors also help to attract interest, with sporting personalities supplying star power and local ambassadors forming a link between us and those benefitting from the training.
When we take our coaching sessions overseas to places like Nepal and Jordan, we often create football pitches to deliver the training on – and for the future use of surrounding communities.
Generation Amazing has benefitted thousands of people – in Qatar and overseas – so far. As the programme expands, it will continue to inspire and accelerate development, contributing to the lasting legacy of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.
