Each year, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy hosts an annual school competition in partnership with Qatar's Ministry of Education & Higher Education.
As well as encouraging creativity and a desire to learn new skills, these competitions allow us to connect with the young people who will benefit most from our legacy. Their views and ideas inform our decisions every step of the way towards 2022.
For the 2016-17 academic year, the competition focused on art. Schools were tasked with developing art pieces inspired by the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. In the future, each year will bring a new theme to excite both students and teachers.
Teachers from schools across Qatar were trained by a professional artist and worked with their students to create papier-mâché sculptures that could represent the first FIFA World Cup™ in the Middle East. The result was 26 pieces that were as imaginative as they were impressive.
An awards ceremony will recognise all who took part. Those schools judged to have produced the best pieces will receive a cash prize to upgrade their art departments and activities, helping the young people of Qatar to express their creativity for years to come.
