Fans around the world can now plot their team’s route to glory
The group stage is set
The Arab world’s first FIFA World Cup takes place from 21 November to 18 December. 32 teams will take part, with individual groups drawn and the match schedule set.
During the tournament the world’s best teams will go head-to-head for the biggest prize of all – using the Official Match Ball, Al Rihla.
From the stands, and in the streets all over the world, fans will be able to cheer their team with the Qatar 2022™ Official Soundtrack.
Qatar celebrates each qualified team’s achievement by raising their flags next to the Official Countdown Clock on Doha’s Corniche (location map). Another opportunity for fans to capture a fantastic FIFA World Cup 2022™ photo!
Official Mascot of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™
Hi, I’m La’eeb™!
Welcome to the mascot-verse! La’eeb™ is my name – an Arabic word, meaning super-skilled player – and I love the beautiful game.
I love supporting too, and not just from the stands. I love supporting all of you who work hard to achieve your dreams!
So, if you happen to be standing next to one of your football heroes, ask them about me. Maybe they have their own La’eeb™ story to tell? After all, some of them have said that I inspired the most iconic goals on the biggest stage of all.
You can access my stickers and GIFs below, or even download an awesome wallpaper for your phone – so you can take me with you everywhere you go!
The Official Poster is on display at Hamad International Airport, where it will remain at Gate D18 throughout the FIFA World Cup 2022™. Everyone will have the chance to see the poster as they travel from and transit through Qatar.
This series of eight posters were created through close collaboration with prominent Qatari artist Bouthayna Al Muftah, who aims to create a dialogue with football fans – igniting all their senses.
About the artist:
Bouthayna Al Muftah’s practice ranges from painting, photography, printmaking and typography to large-scale installations and performance pieces.
The inspiration behind Bouthayna’s creative expression is the concept of collective memory, born through thousands of years of Qatari heritage – borrowing elements from folklore and the oral history of Qatar and readapting them to reflect her relationship with her land’s past.
About the posters:
The main poster focuses on the football itself, featuring the agal – a traditional head piece worn in Qatar – alongside typography expressing the voices of a cheering crowd. The artworks combine to convey the values and messages of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ in a subtle, unique and relevant way – while remaining closely connected with local culture and heritage.
Just like the beautiful game, the artist’s approach is raw and emotive, packed with palpable movement and energy.

Culture and traditions are loved and celebrated in Qatar so it’s fitting that these have served as inspiration for the emblem of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. Its design resembles the traditional woollen shawl that men and women wear across the Arab world during winter months, when the tournament will take place. Like football, the shawl's popularity is a unifying force, woven into the everyday fabric of people's lives.
The typeface created to complement the emblem likewise celebrates Qatar's heritage with a global twist. It brings traditional Arabic calligraphy into dialogue with other global languages through the integration of elements like the kasheeda – a lengthening of the line connecting letters to enhance the flow and elegance of the written word.
They keep us focused on where we are going.
